Dear Parishioners,
Congratulations to Father Peter Chineke, a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, who will be ordained a priest for our diocese at the Cathedral this Friday evening. Father will be assigned as an associate pastor at Cathedral and also as a chaplain at SHG.
Congratulations to Father Ron Lorilla, our associate pastor who will be leaving Blessed Sacrament on July 1st to serve as parochial administrator for St. Mary’s, New Berlin; Sacred Heart, Franklin; St. Sebastian, Waverly; and Visitation, Alexander (sounds like he is going to be driving a little). Ordained in 2017, he has served as associate pastor here at Blessed Sacrament for the past two years.
Finally, congratulations go out to Max Wottowa and Max Beard who were named valedictorian and salutatorian respectively for the 2020 class at Sacred Heart-Griffin. Both are graduates of Blessed Sacrament School. (We "maxed" them out at SHG.) Max Wottowa plans to attend Virginia Tech and Max Beard will attend the University of Washington. We wish you and all our graduates the best. You are in our prayers.
The bad pun reminded me that the weekend is also Fathers’ Day in our nation. To honor our fathers, I thought I could tell a couple of Dad jokes…
What did the buffalo say to his boy when he dropped him off at school? Bison.
Cashier: Would you like your milk in the bag, sir? Dad: No, just leave it in the carton.
What did the horse say after it tripped? Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t giddyup!
Alright, that is more than a couple. I enjoy Dad jokes. They remind me of the many important things fathers help to teach their children. No, they don’t teach them dumb jokes, but they do teach them the importance of a sense of humor and the ability to laugh at oneself. Fathers can play a major role in the lives of their children. When both parents share the role of raising a child, believe me…the child benefits. Please remember all fathers in your prayers this week. May they inspire their children to become the people God calls them to be.
